About APSWREIS

                            Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Institutions Society was formulated and registered as per G.O.Ms.No.1 of Social Welfare (Q1) Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh Dated. 2nd January, 1987 under Andhra Pradesh (Telangana area) Public Societies Registration Act, 1350 F of (Act No.1 of 1350f) 2453 of 1986 to start residential schools and colleges for Scheduled Castes under Social Welfare Department. It’s main function is to impart quality education to the poor children, most of whom belong to SC community (75% seats are reserved for SCs and 12% for SC converted Christians.

Aims and Objectives of this organization

    a.     To establish, maintain control and manage Social Welfare Residential Schools and Colleges for the

           talented and meritorious children  elonging to Scheduled Cases and others/residing within the State

            of Andhra Pradesh and to do all acts and things necessary for or  conducive to promotion of such

            schools and colleges.

   b.     To affiliate and accord recognition to similar Social Welfare Residential Schools and Colleges established

           and run by any Society and private  persons in the State.

  c.      To prepare, introduce, supervise and modify from time to time the curriculum, syllabi and other programmes

           and conduct of examinations for  the pupils in the Social Welfare Residential Schools and Colleges

           established by or affiliated to or recognized by the Society.

  d.      To organise and conduct study courses, conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops, study tours and the

           like for the benefit of the staff and   students of the Social Welfare Residential Schools and Colleges.

 

       As on date, there are 300 APSWR Institutions functioning under the control of APSWREI Society.  The following are

the category-wise institutions functioning under the Society’s administrative control.

 

 >The objective of the Society is to provide qualitative education to the children belonging to Scheduled Castes and other

    weaker sections.

>288 Residential Schools and 73 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas [KGBV] institutions are functioning under the control

  of APSWREI Society. 

>To provide special coaching from class VIII to II year Intermediate for admissions into IITs, NIT, IIIT, Medical Colleges etc.,

   [3] Centres of Excellence were started during the academic year 2006-2007 at Srikrishnapuram, Visakhapatnam dist,

   Pulidendula, Kadapa YSR dist and Karimnagar, Karimnagar dist.  During 2011-2012 Govt have issued orders permitting t

take up admissions into 9th class onwards @ 4 sections with 30 students in each section

 

>Out of 288 institutions, 78 are schools upto X class level, 6 are Independent Junior Colleges, 204 are upgraded schools with Intermediate course.  Details of type of institutions are as follows

I.     ACADEMICS:

  1. Admissions are made in 5th class and I year Intermediate, every year
  2. Admissions for 5th class is through drawal of lottery and intermediate based on SSC marks.

IIT / AIEEE Results 2011.

  • During 2010-2011, 10 students are selected for admission into IITs [9 boys + 1 girl] from Nagole, IIT Center, run by APSWREIS.
  • Among the 10 students selected for IIT, 9 are SC students and 1 is ST student.

Staffing Pattern in APSW Residential Institutions :

 

  • Principal is the Head of the Institution

 

  • 18 Teachers – JL, PGT, TGT & 5 Special Teachers [PD/PET, Art, Craft, Music & Craft Teachers] & Staff Nurse and 5 Non-teaching staff and 4 Class-IV employees work in the institution.

Panel Inspections :

>.Retired Officers of Education Department / APSWREIS, are entrusted with Panel Inspections

     District-wise for 6 districts.  For the remaining    districts, action is under process to identify

     the retired officers for continuous academic monitoring.

 

II.    AMENITIES:

 

STUDENT AMENITIES:

The APSWREI Society is supplying centralized student amenities i.e., Uniform material (suiting cloth, shirting

cloth, pad cloth, punjabi dress material (top and bottom with chunnies), Towels, Bed sheets, Carpets, Note Books

and Intermediate Text books to the APSWR Institutions functioning in the State at free of cost every year.

 

The following are the details of amenities provided to every student studying in APSWR Institutions.

        >.Free accommodation and boarding and quality education at free of cost are provided to the students.

           Diet charges @ Rs.475/- P.M. from Class III to VII & Rs.535/-P.M from Class VIII to Intermediate.

 

>.3 pairs of uniform every year
 

  1. 1 pair of track suit for two years
  2. 1 pair of Shoe and Socks every year
  3. 1 towel every year
  4. 1 bed sheet every year
  5. 1 carpet every year
  6. 1 plate, glass with katora once in five years
  7. 1 Trunk box once in five years
  8. Note books every year (as per the norms)
  9. Text books every year
  10. Required student stationery every year (as per the norms)
  11. Cosmetic charges of Rs.50/- p.m. for boys.  Rs.55/- p.m. for girls upto class VII & upto 11 years of age and Rs.75/- p.m. from Class VIII to XII and above 11 years of age.
  12. Hair cutting charges Rs.12/- per head
  13. Washing charges Rs.7/- per head

HUDCO PROJECT

 

  1. Construction of permanent School Complexes to [31] APSWR Schools is being taken up under HUDCO loan Project.  

 

D) KASTURBA GANDHI BALIKA VIDHYALAYAS(KGBVs):-.

 

  1. Permanent Residential School Complexes to accommodate [73] KGBVs are sanctioned under Rajiv Vidhya Mission (RVM) funds with a unit cost of Rs.38.75 Lakhs per institution. These works are being executed by the APEWIDC.
